Question / Help Reading Audio Properly

Hey all, I have a simple question for you.

I've been streaming for a while now and I feel I have a good handle on it thanks to these forums and a bunch of streamers giving a helping hand and kind word, but I'm the kind of guy who likes to know exactly what he's doing when he changes a value or a slider which brings me to this question:

In OBS, how do you properly read the mic/game audio levels?

I know the red is the volume of the mic or game audio. Am I right in thinking the green bar is to tell if the audio is clipping? That's how I've been reading it and things generally turn out fine.

Thanks all!

The green bars below the microphone and the game volume bars in OBS. They are only activated when audio is present, i.e. when previewing or actually streaming/recording. They act like clipping bars so I am assuming they are, but I just want to be sure.

They are volume indicators, yes. They won't warn you about clipping though, you'd need to listen to a VOD or recording to verify that.
