Hi all,

Q.1 I am a new user and I have found that regardless of restarting or powering down the system the obs software just seems to launch at random. Basically.

when it does launch and run it works great.

Q.2 How can I set up the scene to show web cam + monitor stream + logo back drop image? Doesn't seem to be working like Xsplit?

I'm not sure I understand your first question...are you saying that it has trouble starting? Can you describe the problem in more detail?

As for the second question, scenes and sources work similarly. You add sources to a scene by right-clicking the Sources box and saying Add. You can add images, Video capture devices (including webcams), and Game/Window capture. If you're running Windows 7 or Vista, Monitor capture is not recommended, as it's the slowest capture method, but if you really must use it, make sure Aero is off.

Hi there,

Sorry for the late reply, I expected to get a message on my email of replies.

1. Yes. Basically I have installed the software but 2/5 attempts to launch/run the application nothing happens and the software won't launch again for hours. Restarting or shutting down my computer doesn't seem to work either. OBS literally seems to work when ever it feels like it. should I defrag?

2. I have worked out how to use the edit scene function. So gg. But, I do not see what the ctrl+r function is supposed to do, nothing happens?

I haven't a clue why OBS would simply not start with no error. You can try scanning for viruses, I suppose, but I'm not sure why that would fail to start at all.

The CTRL + R function, when selecting a source, resets the source to its original size, whatever that may have been. You can see a variety of functions for editing a source by right clicking on it on the menu and going to the Position/Size submenu.

If you are getting that sort of problem there has to be something else going on with your system preventing you from launching the app. The app has no reason to fail to launch, on startup it doesn't really even initialize anything important at all. Just the main window.

I am of a mind with dodgepong, an application that simply does not launch without even showing any sign of life is a symptom of something else going on with the system.

Either malware of some kind (most commonly a virus in the case of something not launching properly, possibly as a result of a poorly coded virus) or the opposite; an issue with your anti-virus. To rule out the prior (a virus/malware), perform a thorough complete system scan with your anti-virus and consider running something like Malwarebytes, Hijackthis or autoruns as well. Preferably in safe mode.

To rule out the latter (a problem with your AV), just disable the AV and see if the problem persists.
