Question / Help Quick video editing

Hi, I've been locally recording some clips with OBS, using the default parameters.

I'm looking for a way to edit those videos, without having to reencode them every time. I'm not really knowledgable with codecs and such, and every time I try to do something with Vegas, I end up with a 50+Go file (when the original file is less than 1 Go).

Thanks !

Best advice I can give you -- Time to actually get knowledgeable then. Which may sound silly, it may sound like I'm making a joke... but I'm not. Encoding really is an integral part of video manipulation. Not only for the obvious argument of filesize but also for quality. So much stands and falls with the encoding process.

I should probably learn more about encoding, but what i'm trying to do is really basic: just cuting some parts of the video at the beginning/end, and only keeping a certain part of the video.

That almost by definition is one of the most complex manipulations possible as far as encoding is concerned. What I mean is, in the whole process of encoding to a certain extent past, present and future frames matter to the frame being encoded. So, cutting parts out has a major bearing on the file as a whole.

Which is why you really should learn at least some basics about encoding.
