Quick request (hopefully) from a new user on a Win 10 laptop

Hi, I want to use OBS on a win 10 laptop but always get the 'an encoder error occurred while recording' (I have been using it successfully on my desktop). I remember seeing a link to support pages for laptops when i installed OBS but cannot now find it.
