Question / Help Quick question about Software Capture

Hello! I have been using OBS for a while now and everything runs fine. I'm able to use both the Monitor capture of my desktop as well as Game Capture. The only problem is, I would like to isolate a particular region on my desktop (Music player) in order to have a small box on my stream to show which song is currently playing. When I attempt to add the region, the box comes up blank. Am I doing something wrong? Or is it not possible to capture the desktop, and then a smaller region of the desktop on top of that? Thanks for the help.

You can play your game in borderless window mode and then try to use Window Capture on the media player.

Just to make completely sure, it doesnt really say software capture does it? If it does its time to welcome the new millenium and update obs. :p

Personally I'd just use a Window Capture for your music player. Desktop capture is slow and *sucks* for the most part (unless you're on Win 8, at which point you have bigger problems), and should only be used as an absolute last resort.

Yes, but I suspect the music player he is trying to capture is Spotify, which doesn't work with Window capture. If that's the case, I recommend using one of the tools in the Tools subforum to get the Title/Artist into a .txt form and put that into OBS instead.
