Question / Help Question regarding upload rate on the OBS monitor

on the bottom portion of the OBS client, it shows the rate you're uploading, right? I noticed it appears when previewing the stream as well, so does this mean it's not the rate you're uploading and rather just the quality of the stream & what you should be uploading at?

I ask this because it goes between 800-1.5k KB/s while I'm streaming, but when I test my upload rate, it caps out around 300KB/s.

Should I make the encoding process slower, and lower my bitrate to compensate, or should I leave my settings at a 1MB cap with veryfast encoding?

Thanks.

Here is an example of what my stream looks like @ 1.5MB/s VBR veryfast encoding: http://www.twitch.tv/nekotanlol/c/3030037

I'd have to see a log file to give you some recommendations, but to answer your question, yes, it does show your upload rate, and for previewing it also encodes and shows your theoretical upload rate (which you can turn off in advanced).

If you have VBR on it generally won't reach your set bitrate unless you're in high motion, it purposely lowers your bitrate when in low motion to reduce bandwidth usage
