I've just noticed there's been an update to OBS Classic and went ahead to check the changelog. As I'm almost exclusively using OBS to record offline and have been using NVENC for that very purpose with more than satisfactory results I was wondering what exactly this here implies:

Updated NVENC

Any more info on what to expect from that change!?

Also I've noticed that under "Advanced" there's a new NVENC related checkbox next to the "NVENC Preset" dropdown list which goes by the name "Settings.Advanced.NVENC2Pass". What exactly does it do and is there any benefit to having this checked!?

Thanks for any and all help.

It definitely does look a lot better. Nvidia shuffled a lot of how nvenc works, 2pass now works in every mode, and behaves very diffrent between them. I haven't tested every combination, but it seems High Quality with 2pass enabled offers the best quality now, when using 2_PASS_QUALITY rc.

This is what most of us using NVEnc want to know, I'd guess.

Thanks a bunch for the info! So... The "High Quality" Preset is the new best go-to option? So far it's been "NVDefault" from what I've heard/read.
