Question / Help Question from a newbie

Hey, I am attempting to become a regular streamer for the video games I play. I think I have a pretty good rig, and when I use OBS to stream SINGLE PLAYER games like Outlast or Amnesia for example the stream works perfectly fine without any lag or frame rate drops whatsoever. It's as if I wasn't streaming anything at all, and the game plays perfectly.

So, I attempted to stream a multi-player online game that I enjoy called SMITE. When I tested everything in a local game with the stream broadcasting, it worked perfectly again with a consistent 60+ frame rate and no lag. However, once I got into an online game against other online opponents my frame rate dropped to a consistent 30- frame rate and noticeable lag which made the game unplayable (especially since it's a competitive game).

What could be the reason for this?

I'm assuming this has something to do with the Encoding settings, and my Max Bitrate and Buffer Size. I use Verizon FIOS and have an upload speed of 32 MBPS. Just for anyone's general information whom may be attempting to help me. Thank you in advance.

How about you post all your hardware information.

And then post all your settings in OBS.

And then we migt have the info we need to reply.

Didn't think all of that would be necessary, saw people getting help in other threads without all of that information.

GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 Ti
Processor: Intel i5-2500K CPU @ 3.30GHz
Memory: 12.0 GB
System Type: 64-bit Operating System, x64 based processor

Anything else you need to know?

Yha ofc people can get replies, with answeres.
But really that is so dumb, people might THINK they have a good computer, and have good settings. If they already know everything, why then even ask for help ?

What ALWAYS is best is give all the information and let the people with more knowledge get a better evaluation on what is the problem.
Answers without info = guesses
Answers with info = Always better.

Im streaming smite myself...
And have higher hardware then you have. the settings I suggest are my own settings.

Amd you can also lower the ingame grafics settings, or are you one of them at always have to have settings on Uber, Super, Mega, Elite extreeme settings to have any chanse to win a game ?

What happens if u change the bitrate and buffer and the settings to the following.

Max Bitrate 2500
Buffer Size 2800
FPS 30
Quality 7

If you cant play or stream with them settings I suggest you either stop streaming while playing, or buy better hardware.

You should really post a log file, it gives a lot more information about what is actually happening: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=7144

Please include one from an attempt to stream Smite. You can even try the Log Analyzer first to see if anything jumps out immediately: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=7145

I will say, however, that for some reason Smite is just one of those games people seem to have problems with.

Krazy's response was not a troll. Posting a log does help a lot. I'm sorry you weren't able to find help here, but I'm glad you got the issue sorted.

It would be extremely helpful if you would outline the steps that were taken to resolve the issue. Archiving solutions for other users searching for answers could be very helpful.

This is a volunteer forum, btw. No one here is paid to do support. We're all just users trying to help each other. Please keep that in mind next time you are asking for help from a free project.
