Question about mkv recordings

I have been using OBS to record my recent meetings. What happened was that I was using my laptop to record one meeting due to lack of other hardware and automatically shut down. When I turned it back on, it lost the recordings. Is there any way to set OBS to not automatically delete the recording when forced closed either due to shutdown or the program freezing? If it was in the settings, where is it?
 
I don't know about a feature to "automatically delete the recording when forced..."
Are you sure? To which format you recorded? Where do you looked for the (possibly remaining) file?
