Question / Help Question about Mic Sync Offset

So is this basically a delay on when it records my mic? Because I was streaming Xbox One through my Elgato inside OBS and I can obviously pick up my friends voice through the Elgato game capture's audio but my audio was going straight to OBS and I think it was a second or two too fast. Mic Sync will fix this? Or am I completely wrong about this feature?

Ok I just checked out the local file I saved from my stream and there's about a 2 second delay from my voice and then it happening in the Elgato capture card in OBS. So is Mic Sync what I need to fix this? Will I just need to set it to 2000 ms to offset it?

1500 is usually the approximate number. Elgato is a delayed device, by approximately 1500 milliseconds.

Ok. Gotcha. I was just saying 2 seconds because that's the approximate amount of time that passed on the video player's timer while I was watching. Obviously, with the naked eye and I guess ear I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between half a second.

...I must admit it would have been a bit more ideal had you mentioned the webcam in the initial post. If you want to use a webcam with the mic and ensure sync, disable the mic in audio settings, then in the properties of the webcam source, enable the specific mic you wish to use. Then, turn on 'use buffering' for the webcam, and set it to 1500 there.

.. Well I'm using the webcam for the video of my face and a Blue Snowball Mic for my audio. But I think I got it figured out.

Yea, it's a messy situation. Apologies about it, dealing with the delay is frustrating for everyone
