Question / Help quality is bad

so anytime my obs studio is open and recording, the game i am playing is kind of laggy, but it's not bad. the really bad part is when i look at the video and it runs at 10-20 fps, as well as being very pixelated. does anybody know how to fix this?

You're on a dual core i3 laptop with no dedicated video card.
Ignoring for the moment that you're 2 major versions of OBS behind, you're also trying to use VBR for recording, which ends up giving low quality recordings if the bitrate value is set too low.

You SHOULD be using simple output mode, indistinguishable recording quality, FLV format, and ideally quicksync as your encoder.
