Question / Help Quake 3, core affinities and fps unoptimal

Hello everyone

I've now been using OBS for local recording of Hearthstone and a few other things for a good year on my old cheap computer. It worked fine, due to the minimal action on the screen.

With my new computer, I expected I could finally begin to record a few other things, such as Quake 3. I set up OBS to run on core 5-8, so that I have core 4 used by Quake, and the 3 others for anything else.

Now, Quake 3 runs optimally on a single core. It should also always run at the max framerate of 125fps, due to physics and calculations being semi-locked to the framerate. The nitty gritty doesn't matter, except the fact that Quake 3 only really plays well at 125 fps.

My problem is, even though I have the game on a different core/thread than OBS, when I start a recording the framerate drops with all three encoders, and I cannot figure out any solution.

The fps are roughly:
No recording - 125
x264 – 80
Quick Sync – 70
NVENC - 90

The specs on the new pc are:
Intel Core i7: 4720HQ
NVidia Geforce 960M
8GB ram

P.S. Cannot remember what it is called, but I already fixed the CPU possibly turning off used cores gaining me about 40 fps.
