Hej guys!

I have an issue with my OBS i've never had before. While recording my gameplay via my PS4 Pro and my new Elgato 4K - my screen goes black for a few seconds and comes back; audio is also lost while it's black. My webcam is still visible.

This is the last logfile: https://obsproject.com/logs/omiVKS3_ILdx7UkD

And here you can see my issue: 1h 32min.

I hope there is someone who can help me ... because my PC, the Elgato and everything else was very expensive and now it's not working the right way. :(

The log looks good, no issues. How does your black screen for a few seconds look like? Is the whole desktop black, i. e. Windows itself? Or is it only within OBS, only the Elgato source with the PS4 capture that shows a black feed for a few seconds?

The next question: did your PC ever work, and only now something begins to fail? Or is your complete hardware new and it never worked under stress before?

If it is a new PC and the whole desktop goes black, it looks as a hardware issue with your PC. It can be everything from faulty hardware, incompatible hardware, improper seating of expansion cards.

If stuff from your PC (Windows desktop, OBS preview with webcam and embedded videos) are always visible and only the video and audio feed from your Elgato device drops out, I would look into the capture device. Check the cable(s), check the seating in the expansion slot, check if you have the most recent drivers installed.

Hej koala, thx for your reply!

When i'm running OBS and watch the source while recording, is it only the Elgato source with the PS4 that turns black. Windows itself runs without any problems. When i switch the source on my screen to play without any delay on my PS4, of course the whole screen goes black.

My newer Hardware is the 4K Elgato and the GeForce GTX 1060; in the past i only had and "installed graphic" card on the mainboard - same CPU, same RAM; and everything was fine with the Elgato HDPro60.

And i've checked all the cables and the capture card is "sitting" (is it right to say it that way? I don't know. Sorry for that. :/)

What do you mean with this? Do you mean you're switching the monitor to use a cable to the PS4 directly, no PC involved? If you get the black screen even then, it looks like the issue is originating on the PS4.

If I google for "ps4 black screen", there are numerous reports of black screen errors, and one caught my attention, because it mentioned 4k resolution and black screen flashing. Perhaps it describes your issue (which is a PS4 issue, no Elgato and no OBS issue) and you can go from there:

It worked that way Elgato described it, but it causes the same issues. So ... i finally changed the resolution to 1080p on my PS4 Pro and there seems to be the problem. PS4 Pro Output in 1080p causes no black screens.

That's nice to know ... but it sucks anyway.

Thanks to koala for helping me!
