Hey everyone,
So i have a micomsoft sc-512n1-l/dvi capture card with a ps4 connected to a framemeister through an hdmi switch (powered and working great). It's a mess of cables, but basically i've got hdmi splitters running so i can play directly from the framemeister on my TV AND with the capture card's passthrough my monitor depending on the situation. I can also capture either my PC desktop or the framemeister with the help of another hdmi switch (unpowered) that i can toggle back and forth.
If i'm streaming i play off the passthrough on my monitor. Now, i've always played games with the TV passthrough just fine, but when i started playing using the monitor, i get occasional screen blackouts on FFXV. I'm not sure if this happens for other games as i haven't been playing on the monitor passthrough for long, but i tried some Last of Us and it didn't happen.
Not to say that the problem happens often, but it's definitely annoying when it does. The thing is, i looked at OBS and every time this happens, OBS still captures the ps4 through the capture card just fine. It's only my monitor that blacks out.
So i thought it was the unpowered hdmi switch causing problems, but lo and behold after connecting a newly bought powered hdmi switch to it, it was even worse, i'd get weird fuzzing on screen 100% of the time. Either way, if i unplug the hdmi switch, i don't get capture on capture card at all, so that CAN'T be the problem right? It seems to be isolated to my monitor which just blacks out for 3 seconds intermittently. Any ideas here?
TL;DR Multiple switches and splitters running through framemeister and capture card, capture card continues to capture ps4 on OBS just fine despite getting intermittent blackouts on passthrough monitor. Using exact same setup and switching to PC desktop with hdmi switch while playing various games on PC with passthrough doesn't cause intermittent blackouts. HDMI cable problem or hdmi switch problem? (HDCP causing issues despite being disabled on ps4? -gasp-)
