Question / Help PS4 - Mac streaming options

Hi all,

First time posting here so appreciate any help. I've recently dabbled in streaming and am currently set up on my PS4. I have a Macbook Pro 2017 with the following specs...
-2.3GHz dual-core Intel Core i5
-8GB of 2133MHz LPDDR3 onboard memory
-Intel Iris Plus Graphics 640

I've encountered a few issues (hence the post), however understand there are a few work arounds. My problem mainly stems from window capture on the remote play in OBS, it is laggy and impossible to stream good quality. It's worth noting that the remote play itself is completely fine at high settings which is why I know the problem lies within OBS window capture. I have been lurking around on here and came across the Syphon Inject option, I had no luck running this with remote play, if you have had any success with Syphon Inject for PS4 I'm all ears? I did mange to get the stream running last night using display capture but this came with its own problems. It was workable (but not ideal) however after around 15-20 minutes of streaming OBS froze altogether at which point I came out of remote play and streamed with the PS4 directly.

I don't have the log as I've not got the Macbook with me right now but can post it later on if that will help. My question is what are my options? Do I give up all together and look towards going windows or is there a way to get this working on my current setup? I do have the ability to run windows through my Macbook so have considered this, has anybody had any success in running it this way?

any help will be greatly appreciated, I'm very keen to get this running so thank you in advance.

P.S regarding audio, what are you guys using? I am using a program called Loopback which works fine until the reminder that your free trial is up and it destroys the audio mid stream.... :/ I found this out last night to so would appreciate a point in the right direction! Thanks again guys.

Try using game capture, and see if that works. You should be able to change it to "capture specific window" and then select the remote play window.

I am using LoopBack. It works extremely well.

What version of MacOS are you on? Syphon is basically not going to work past High Sierra.

Window capture is the worst performing option, try a cropped display capture if you can.

My Mac is running Mojave so I'm not sure if that makes a difference? Yeah LoopBack works well however i'm on the free trial so after the first 20 minutes it all but shuts down. The Display capture is what I ended up using last night however it isn't ideal as I found I had to leave the PSN Display window open and couldn't use the macbook for anything else (having twitch open for comments etc). Also, after half an hour OBS froze so my stream was left with frozen face me on the webcam... I'm back with the Macbook now so can post a log if that helps?

Capture wasn't working, i'll have another play with it to see if I can get it working!

Thanks for the help guys

Just an update...

I gave up on trying to get it to work on OS Mojave and downloaded windows 10 through boot camp. I've since set it up and all seems fine, I just need to figure out the best settings for me and i'll be good!

Thanks again for the help guys.
