Question / Help PS3+Elgato+OBS = Another program is using the device

Greeting again OBS,

I come bearing a question about OBS and it's ability to capture the PS3 Stream of the Elgato Device. Now, before I go any farther, the device, stream and output are working. Using the Twitch intergration with the Elgato software works like a charm. I would just prefer to use OBS for the simple fact of addons, plugins and Overlays for my stream.

Now the issue I have is that when everything is connected and said and done, 'preview' on my stream returns an elgato 'the device is in use'

Now I don't know how common this is, but we have the ps3 set up to all the right standards. Tried 32 and 64 bit OBS. Ran all applications in administrator, the works. Still to no avail, we cannot get the application to show the PS3 live gameplay.

Just wondering if anyone has run into this issue, or knows how to remedy it. All input is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advanced!

Tried that, still to no avail. We ended up putting the PS3 thru an AverMedia Video Capture device, THEN into the Elgato. Then and only then did it start working flawlessly with OBS. But I really do not want to have to do that.

On my Xbox, it works no questions asked. Just plug in my HDMI and poof, right into OBS with overlay and logos galore. But going via that PS3 A/V cable, something just keeps it at that "in use by another application" message.

Also, I wanted to ask if there is a way to do something about the "One Moment Please" when starting a stream. I just dont want my twitch.tv past broadcasts and highlights to be filled with big grey boxes that say that. Although, I can see myself remedying this issue but putting like a screenshot overlay at first when starting the stream, and just unticking it when the stream starts.

Not sure what's going on with the device, I'd have to see a log file.

As for the 'one moment please" thing here's no much you can do about that (yet). in the rewrite you'll probably be able to start the stream after that rather than be forced to have that.
