PS2 feed switches to black and white when opening OBS

Here's my log file: https://obsproject.com/logs/KBH5U97aW3tC1Aij

Noticed that whenever I open up OBS to capture my PS2 footage, it changes the feed to black and white. As soon as I close it, the color on the game returns on my TV.

Now this all might be because I am using one of Elgato's older capture cards, though I have had no problems before.

I tried updating OBS, changing the USB port that the capture card is plugged into, changing color profiles, as well as switching around the input settings for my game capture hd in OBS. Would also like to note that the feed is black and white even in Elgato's own software.

Is it just time to upgrade or is there a setting I might be missing?

I figured it out! When connecting the cables to the adapter, you need to plug the Yellow composite connector into the Red video input of the component adapter! Then set the Elgato card settings to Other and Composite in OBS. Voila! :D

This is a known issue with older Elgato capture cards and OBS, it's usually a color space mismatch. Try changing the color space in OBS video settings to BT.601 instead of BT.709, that fixes the black and white issue for a lot of people capturing PS2 footage.

If it's showing black and white in Elgato's own software too then it might just be the card struggling, but try that setting first before upgrading!

Had the same issue once, turned out to be a color space mismatch. Try switching to BT.601 in OBS video settings, fixed it for me straight away. Also if you're capturing PS2 footage make sure your PS2 BIOS is properly set up as that can sometimes affect how the signal is read. If you want more help on the capture card settings just click here on the OBS forum guides, loads of useful stuff there. If it's still black and white in Elgato's own software too then the card might just be dying honestly.
