Hello,

I have a playstation 2 where I'm playing Tomb Raider 2 (PS1 game). On my TV it looks normal I can see everything just fine. But looking at the display in OBS the screen is black but the sound is still coming in.

I have tried changing a couple things to see if it works but nothing seems to help which includes changing the resolution but the display looks weird.

The capture card I'm using is the Razer Ripsaw. The PS2's normal resolution is 576 x 720 but when loading a PS1 game. the resolution changes (not sure which exactly) and the display goes all black in OBS.

Please could someone help me with this because I'm trying to get footage but it's just a black screen.

Thank you

Does the Razer Ripsaw support resolutions lower then SD (576x480-525-ish)? I don't think it does, but you should contact Razer and ask them if it supports capturing a PS1 and the lowest resolution they do support capturing.

Not sure, I will ask Razer support and see what they say. Like I said, When viewing the game normally on my tv. Everything looks fine.

Oky doky, update on things. Looking at the master guide for the Ripsaw. It appears to be that the lowest resolution it supports is 480i/480p. This is what the game runs at when playing the game on my tv which I can see just fine. On OBS it is all black. If I change the resolution to 720x479 it all looks really weird on OBS.I have included a picture of what I see on OBS and what I see on my TV. I feel this is a problem with OBS, not the Razer Ripsaw.

One of the problems of using a Razer is that (last time I checked) they don't have a bundled/test application (unlike Happauge, Elgato, Avermedia, Blackmagic Design.... pretty much every other company on the planet, even the ones that suck horribly), so it's impossible to confirm if it's a hardware or OBS issue.

That said, you could try messing with the different settings in the source properties window in OBS.

Lastly, since Razer doesn't provide any type of application to verify that their hardware works, you should still contact Razer and get a confirmation from them that their device supports what you're trying to do.
