Profiles help please

I'm pretty new to OBS and still trying to figure it out. There's some awesome video on the net, but I feel like I'm missing something with profiles. I watched a video yesterday and the presenter had a visible profile with scenes in it. They then created a new profile and I thought I saw the scenes clear for new stuff.

I have one profile that is working with the appropriate scenes, etc. But when I create a new profile, I expect the scenes to clear, but they do not.

Do I just not understand profiles?

Win 10, OBS version 26.1.1

A profile is where you stream to like Twitch,Facebook etc...Each of those is a profile because the settings for each site are different..
When you create a new SCENE that's empty and you can add sources to that...You can then switch scenes for the profile you're streaming to.

Thanks,
So when I create a new profile, It WILL NOT clear the scenes.

I'd then be able to use the same scenes for that profile?

So what if I have different "personas" that I want to use?
(say biker and vo artist)
I'd just create scenes, title them such and use/not use them??

Yes, the scenes stay until you remove them.
I have about 10 scenes one for each holiday, like Christmas, New Year's,Halloween,Thanksgiving..Etc.. Each scene has source material in it for that holiday. I then stream that scene that I select, on TWITCH..

To use different sets of scenes, use Scene Collections. They work hand-in-hand with Profiles.
Profiles are for basic settings... resolution, framerate, bitrate, where you're streaming to, the streaming account to use.
Scene Collections store... well, your scenes. Also your audio setup (as that is part of your scene sources, even the global ones!). I have different Scene Collections for different resolutions so they're all at the best quality possible (images and assets resized in an image editor, not re-scaled in OBS). I also have special SCs just for events, like Halloween, Christmas, April Fool's Day. I also have SCs for special cases like a soldering stream, cooking stream, or working-on-car stream with remote sources and special setups needed, that I don't want cluttering up my 'main' scene-set.

THAT was gold and maybe what I thought I saw on the video. THANK YOU BOTH!!!

(Do you ever mix the soldering and cooking streams? :-) )
