Question / Help Processor no longer keeping up with streaming.

Heya,

Long story short, I have an i5 2500k on windows 7.

I've changed nothing since I bought the processor 3 years ago. Same stream settings as always, I've triple checked this. Processor set to 'veryfast'.

It used to be able to stream at 1080p/30fps while streaming Starcraft 2 or League of Legends, now it struggles to stream with the same settings while just playing a movie.

Feels like my processor is no longer as powerful as it used to be.

Anyone have any idea why that would be?

Thanks

1080p isnt worth the cpu strain and doesnt benefit most viewers drop to 720p
and next time log would help
and you didnt say what the issue was directly
is the stream laggy or are you losing fps in game or on obs

so what you are experiencing now is that your cpu usage is much higher than before? Is OBS giving you high cpu usage warnings?

You should post a log so people can see your settings and other important things.

I had similar issue before and I managed to fix it by changing Process Priority Class to Above Normal in OBS settings, checked the Disable Aero -box and disabled the Monitor Capture when I was capturing a game.

Just to give you a little more example about "I changed nothing" comment, your computer updates with security fixes from when windows was first out. patching all sorts of exploits. over time, this can make post PCs slower. Remember when Windows XP ran well? After SP3, no so much. This might/might not contribute as much of a factor here, it just happens to contribute to any PC.

Second, most important is driver (specifically video drivers) updates these are very important but can positively or negatively affect gaming and OBS performance. these change on a monthly bases.

Third is other software running in the background. if you were really close to the peak CPU with 1080@30 and installed software that is running in the background, that can also contribute negatively on performance especially if it is an addon to a game such as overwolf, raptr (included in AMD drivers), or shadowplay (included in nVidia card drivers?).

I said all that to say, Yes please post a log and we will do what we can to help, but sometimes, its that other factors have changed
