Question / Help Problems with Skype sound.

I've tried looking for the answer, couldn't find it. Im also a utter noob when it comes to programs like this and what setting to use for what, so forgive me if the answer is easy and I'm just too stupid to see it.

When I stream, I have the game audio output on my speakers. And I use the microphone input on my headset. This all goes fine, you can hear me clearly, the game audio is fine.

But then, I tried to have a game with friends via skype. What I found is, it records my end of the conversation, but not theirs. The output of skype is through my headset. What you can hear of the conversation is very very quiet, and since the audio level of my mic is maxed out, I assume its what the microphone picks up from my headset itself.

Google told me to adjust the settings of skype to put it to 'speakers' since it did seem to pick that up. That 'fixed' the problem on the stream, only problem is then, that I cant hear my friends mixed through the game sounds.

Is there a way, somehow to make it record my speakers AND the headset output? I'd much prefer it to keep skype audio separated from the game, but I still want to record it.

You can use a program like Virtual Audio Cable or VB-Audio to create a virtual device, and then set your Speakers and your Headset to have the virtual device "listen" to those outputs (in the Listen tab on the properties of each device).

Will OBS offer such a service at any foreseeable future? To make it possible to select 2 or more outputs and combine it for a stream?

No, it's beyond the scope of OBS. OBS can only record from audio endpoints (eg, whatever output comes out of your speakers, headphones, etc) due to limitations of the Windows mixing API. It is not possible to get an audio stream from a single application without workarounds such as virtual audio devices.

It's outside the scope to get audio from specific applications, but the ability to add an arbitrary number of input devices should be something that would be done eventually.

After getting absolutely skullf*cked by the VB-Audio program - this is NOT noob friendly -_-; - my much more program-savy friend fixed it for me.

Everything works how I want it perfectly now, thank you so much for your help. =)
