Question / Help Problems with OBS Project

While using OBS, the recording process works fine, but 50% of the recordings (mp4 files) become corrupted and unable to play through any video player. Some of the recordings only pick up the audio or show a still image for a second, then moves to a black screen. I'm using an AlienWare mx14 Laptop with Windows 8 for this program. Here are my settings for OBS when the problem occurs. Also, recording for shorter periods of time increases the chances of the mp4 files working; while recording for longer periods of time increases the chances of the files becoming corrupted.

Only thing that looks off to me is that you need to disable CBR in Settings>Encoding. Otherwise post a log so we can see more f what is happening.

Whenever we tried to record, the recording timer keeps freezing and our videos become corrupted. I've looked at the crash report and everything seems to be adjusted accordingly. The only consistent error that we have is a minor one about the graphics card. We are trying everything but it keeps freezing. This image is of our most recent crash.

Here is our log https://gist.github.com/a6a9737038863fbac48e

I merged your threads, because you should not open a new thread about the same issue. If you need immediate help, the come to the chat room.

Your CPU seems to be failing in some way. You have some really weird timing results in your log. Are you overclocking at all? Is your hardware stable?

Thanks @dodgepong
We are new to video recording and this program so we don't really know a lot about "overclocking" and things like that. We have a general base of computer knowledge, so we are trying to use a simple program to record games through our laptop to eventually post to youtube.
(P.S. We are currently trying to record gameplay in a game called "Gang Beasts", which is not a high-performance game at all.)
And the chat room is not working for us; can't connect to local server

It's just an IRC chat room so perhaps you can try connecting to it via a normal IRC chat client, like Hexchat. It's #obsproject on Quakenet.

As for the issue, is your laptop running in power saving mode? You may need to change your power options to High Performance mode.

We just switched the power options from "Power Save" to Balanced. It worked great the first time which was about 2 minutes, but the second recording stopped after about 14 seconds and then again after 30.

Is the laptop plugged in? Can you try switching to High Performance mode?

Is the laptop getting enough ventilation? Perhaps it's overheating.
