Hello Guys,

i am new to this forum so please tell me if i am doing things wrong.

First of all i want to thank you for creating OBS. I recorded most of my YouTube videos with OBS and i am very happy with it.

At least until i got my new Monitor....

And that´s where the Problem starts.

I use the following configuration right now:

- Intel Core i7-6700K @ 4,00GHz
- 32GB DDR4 (4x8GB) G.Skill Value 2400MHz CL15
- MSI Z170A Gaming M5
- Assus Strix GTX 1080 A8G (Advanced)
- Samsung 950 Pro 256GB M.2 NVME (System, OBS is installed here)
- WD Blue 1TB 7200RPM 64MB (Games and Data, also location for OBS to save the videos i capture)
- Be Quiet Dark power Pro P11 850W
- Windows 10 Pro 64Bit (Original, activated, not upgraded but fresh installled.)
- Latest BIOS Version, latest mainboard- / graphiccard-drivers, latest firmware for ssd.
- i activated the itegrated graphic of my i7 in the bios and set the shared memory to maximum of 1gb
- Asus PG278QR WQHD (2560x1440)

I used to play Gamers on an old Samsung 1080po Monitor and to capture these games with obs in 1080p 60fps.
But now with the new monitor my captured videos look a little bit laggy, seems that the framerate drops down to below 30 sometimes, depends on the game i try to capture.

i try to capture videos in 1080p 60fps still even if i play them on 2560x1440 @ 144Hz.

but it seems that i am doing something wrong.

i already read tons of articles in different forums the last days and figured out to let my intel gpu encode the video i capture, just to minimize cpu usage. works for the usage but the result won't stop looking laggy.

can you please help me?

OBS settings i use:

1. encoding:
- quick sync
- CBR active
- bitrate = 12000 kbit/s
- buffer = 12000 kbit/s
- audio codec = aac
- audio bitrate = 320 kbit/s
- audio format = 48khz
- audio channel = stereo

2. broadcast
- as iwrote above, i installed OBS on my ssd (C) and i let it save the video capture on my hard drive (D)

3. video
- basic resolution = 1920x1080 (16/9)
- downscale = none
- filter = bilinear (fastest)
- fps = 60
- deactivate aero surface at startup = no

i do skip audio and hotkeys here because of no due to the problem (as far as i can tell)

4. extended
- multithread optimization = on
- processpriority = higher as usual
- scene buffertime = 700ms
- deactivate encoding during preview = on
- quicksync-settings = 1 best quality
- encoding profile = high
- keyframeinterval = 0
- use cfr = on
- use quicksync encoder settings = off
- encoding with full value = off
- enable 61-120 fps = off

as far as i can tell this is everything important.

can you please tell me what i am doing wrong? with a system like this i should be able to capture the games that i play on my wqhd monitor at least in 1080p 60fps, or is this just wrong and i do not have enough power?

sorry for my bad englisch...

i would really appreciate if you could fix this problem...

thank you very much and have a nice day. i await some problem solving answers ;-)

Hello Harold,

sorry if i did not mention the fact that classic is not supported, nut i don't mind if i have to change to studio.

So the problem stays the same as i guess...

Could you please help me with that or do i have to post a new thread and write studio instead of classic?

By the way, it is not that complicated to be nice and say "hello"... even if you are a very busy keeping this forum a clean place... i said hello to and put much affort in it to be as precise as i can.

Thank you.

Start by reproducing the issue in studio.
Then provide a full session log from that session of studio (restart studio after reproducing the issue then help -> logs -> upload last log. then paste the link in your reply)

Hello again,

i installed / configured OBS Stuio.

For the first test i recorded the game minecraft.

Here is the requested log file (link):
https://gist.github.com/82fadccfa00d6b2140b6f4ce4e43f89a

I am having issues again... the result video looks awfull... it seems that i do something wrong.
i looked up different tutorials on the web to find a solution for OBS studio itself to get my recordings working but i still don't get the result that i want.

i've activated the nvidia shadowplay overly to look up the framerate ingame and it drops to between 30 and 45 when i play fullscreen and record at the same time (remember, i use a new wqhd monitor).

please help me... thank you.

Don't use the stream encoder to record.
Set your recording quality to indistinguishable
Recording format to flv
And encoder to nvenc or x264 low cpu use.
