Problems recording audio on a windows 11 headless NUC

I use music making tools (Ableton) on a Mac and remote to a Windows 11 machine that I use to record video using OBS. I just want to record the audio from my mac. I also have a usb camera and it records video just fine. It can record the audio from the camera's mics, but I want the direct audio.

The Mac Windows Remote tool doesn't handle sending audio, so I'm trying to use a simple Audio device (Behringer UCA222 USB interface) connected to an output of my Mac's audio interface (RME Fireface)

I've had a challenge getting it to recognize the device when I remote to the windows machine, so I've set it up directly with a monitor/keyboard connected temporarily. I got this to work with a different Audio interface but I want to phase that old interface (A roland OctaCapture) out.

I can see audio coming in to the windows machine so far, but it's only mono. It's just listening to the L input of the UCA 222 no matter what I do. I know it's getting a stereo signal . The Behringer doesn't have any driver for settings.

I do know the windows machine (An Intel NUC, can only get mono audio if I use the headphone jack for audio in, hence the need for a sterero sound card, whether it's the behringer or the old roland.

Any ideas? I can't believe this is so hard!

S888t, I figured it out. Seems like it's a problem. Sorry

Behringer UCA222 will record in stereo, but an incorrect software or operating system setting can force it to record only in mono. The device has two RCA input jacks, allowing it to capture two separate audio channels for a stereo recording.
Here is how to solve the most common stereo recording issues with the UCA222.

Fix the device settings in Windows
Windows has a tendency to reset the Behringer UCA222 to a mono setting after an update, causing it to only use one channel.
  1. Right-click the speaker icon on your taskbar and select Recording devices.
  2. Select the Behringer device, which may be identified as "USB Audio CODEC," and click Properties.
  3. Go to the Advanced tab.
  4. Change the "Default Format" to a stereo option, such as "2 channel, 16 bit, 48000 Hz (DVD Quality)".
