Question / Help Problems getting 720@60fps (dual PC setup)

Hello folks,

I've been trying with using a dual PC setup for streaming, a friend of mine let me borrow his Asus G771jm laptop for a few days and with that I've been trying to make his computer dedicated just for streaming. I already have a Avermedia Extreme U3 capture card and it is totally fine streaming at 720p@30fps (downscaled from 1080p). Obviously I want to utilize the options of the capture card and stream at 720@60fps but it seems like the laptop can't handle that. The CPU load goes straight up to 100% and as a result the stream is skipping way too many frames.

I thought this particular laptop was on the stronger side and my friend has no problem playing AAA titles on that computer. Ultra settings might push it a little but at least mid-high depending on what game.

I'm planning to get a PC dedicated for streaming either way going with my capture card, a laptop would be really great since I can do some casual gaming whenever I'm on the road. I'm usually playing shooter games such as Battlefield 3 and 4, Far Cry, Crysis and CSGO. Initially I planned to get a laptop with similar hardware but now with this issue I'm kind of unsure.

Buying a laptop with better hardware is not an option since who really got the money for that?! xD
I've been looking at perhaps just building a new desktop PC is the ideal outcome, I do after all get better bang for the buck.

So my question follows: Is the Asus G771jm not powerful enough or am I just doing something terribly wrong (settings wise)?

Here is my gaming PC just in case you want to know:

Intel 4930k
Asus x79 Deluxe
GTX 770 SLI
Corsair Vengeance 32GB LP
ADATA 128GB
Seagate Barracuda 2TB

Specs for Asus G771jm:

I apologize for this long post.
Feedback of any kind is appreciated!

Bit surprised you can't do 720p/60fps. I assume you are doing very fast preset? I used to use my Macbook Pro(specs here: http://support.apple.com/kb/sp653) and had no issues at all doing 720p/60fps with that capture card. I could even use fast preset. It did have a core i7, it's unclear from your link if the laptop is an i5 or i7.

Also, you could probably very easily use your gaming pc to stream at 720p/60fps. I have a very similar setup and it does it just fine.

Thanks for helping out James. I'm as well surprised I'm not able to stream at 720@60fps, not quite sure what the issue is. The laptop has an i7 4710HQ and I'm using very fast as the CPU preset inside OBS so it should be sufficient enough. I do have a external Logitech webcam capturing in full HD so that might put on some weight but still without it brings some serious lag.

What kind of setup did you use just going with the gaming PC? I've tried with a few different options but all of them I've noticed decreased fps. It kinda interrups my "mojo" since I'm mainly playing first person shooter games.

Question is.. Why don't you just stream 720p@60fps with YOUR computer straight off?
It's well over powerful enough and you wouldn't lose many fps doing it.
