Question / Help problem with resolution, or recording.

this looks like you forgot to set either the buffer to 0 or buffer and bitrate high enough

if you set the buffer to 0 the encoder will take as much bitrate as needed to achieve the quality goal

if you set a fixed bitrate/buffer as example 25000 then the encoder will use max 25000bitrate

Thank you, helped alot. it was on 1000bitrate. And if you put it on 0bitrate itll switch it to 64bitrate.

normal streaming quality to twitch gets ruined by youtube, might be a good idea to stream to twitch then export to youtube

As I said the YouTube quality is the same as the quality of the original recording.

glad i could help guess you went with the 25000 bitrate/buffer then ;)

I bet it shoots up past 64bitrate when you actually do something on stream ;) I would still set your bitrate higher even though I know a lot of people only set buffer to 0. still dont see a log. would like to check through the rest of your settings based on your PC specs. anyway, GL.

I dont think he did. I think he just set buffer to 0 but I could be wrong

whoopy missread he said when he sets it to 0 bitrate thought he wrote buffer :D well in the end it will somehow get the same result since in most cases the recordings dont even go over 30k bitrate :P

as Im recording, and not streaming at 25000bitrate it's 1.5GB per minute. no thanks... I just use 7000 now, good enough. and 10000 is more than enough.

as I said when I set the bitrate to 0 it automatically made it to 64. but it doesn't matter as I use 7000.

BUFFER, not bitrate :) 10,000 is good enough but for 1080@30 you really need 20k-25k that'll improve your quality

so to review, two options

Set bitrate like it is(7000?) and buffer to 0, this allows the encoder to use what it needs for the quality you are recording at. this could be big but video will look perfect.

or

set it to 10,000 and buffer to 10,000 will be fine as well.

make sure you use VBR and if you do use CBR, dont use padding since that is a waiste of space with local recording.

Setting a fixed bitrate is never a good idea for recording, if your on-screen action is too much, quality will degrade.
Setting the bitrate to 1000 and buffer to 0 allows you to set a quality you want to always reach. The encoder can then decide for himself how much bitrate is needed to reach this quality.
CBR is also a bad idea for recordings, as it will just use more space. See our quickstart or high quality recording guide for more info on selecting the quality.
