Problem with OBS recorded video files replicating on their own

I have recently discovered that video recordings made in OBS while I am livestreaming are replicating on their own. I first discovered the problem when I experienced issues with going live on Facebook using OBS Studio software. It required multiple attempts before OBS and Facebook connected. I was repeatedly faced with that spinning blue circle that tells you that the Windows 10 computer is likely otherwise occupied or working hard to connect.

I started looking around for a reason and found that a previous video recording in my Video folder had replicated nearly 9,000 times. I deleted the video and all the duplicates.

A week later, I checked the Video folder for the most recent recording made using OBS and again found several thousand copies of this most recent video. I deleted the video and all the duplicates.

Today, I made a recording while livestreaming and when the recording was complete I immediately checked the Video folder to find that the video I had just recorded had already replicated more than 1500 times.

Anyone have any insights into what may be going on? I recently downloaded VLC media player software onto my Windows 10 computer. I have read that some users with VLC media player on their apple devices have experienced problems with unwanted file duplication. I am using a Windows platform and I am not using the VLC media player during my OBS recordings. Could the recent download of the VLC software be a cause for the unwanted video file replication problem?

Spinning blue circle on Facebook's Live Producer page? that has nothing to do with local OS/PC being busy.

Within OBS, are you using the REMUX option?
Have you checked your antivirus logs/settings to make sure that isn't a potential problem area?
Checked any Windows Scheduled tasks or similar automation?
Taken HDD/SSD out of computer and run malware scan on it from other computer?

I spent the day today learning about M3U8 files and TS files. That was my issue. To the uninitiated it appeared that I had files replicating on their own ad infinitum. Now I understand that M3U8 and TS files are one of the recording output format options in OBS. I am now recording to MKV and Remuxing to MP4. What caused the recording output to go M3U8 and TS in the first place is still a mystery, but now I know what it is and how to output to a more common format. Thanks to everyone who replied.
