Question / Help Problem with Dropping Frames with Save To File

I'm getting a lot of dropped frames on my video recording at 1080p with veryfast preset, no downscale and 30 FPS (For YouTube.) I'm just wondering if it could be a problem with my Processor or something, I've been able to do it for long periods of time before, but recently I haven't been able to.

My Hardware Info: http://pastebin.com/KuPDvDG5 (Intel graphics is disabled. 7900 Series = 7950 Radeon HD.)

The Bitrate is set to over 20k since the harddrive can take well over that before having issues. (Anything lower than 10k will start having quality issues.)

This stream was recorded with 2300-2500 Kbps Bitrate: http://www.twitch.tv/coldreactive/c/2868681 Same Hardware, no downscale from 1080p. (Upload speed for me is 4.28 Mbps)

1080p60 is a terrible idea for multiple reasons including bitrate limitations (your 2000 Kbps VOD looks terribad) and Flash having difficulty decoding it, not to mention the very high load it places on your CPU. If you want 1080p you should stream at 30 FPS; if you want 60 FPS you should stream at 720p or maybe 864p.

Here's the problem:
16:29:12: preset: fast

Which causes:
16:40:02: Number of frames skipped due to encoder lag: 987 (23.00%)
and
16:36:56: encoder thread frame - [100%] [avg time: 19.699 ms]

You need to set that x264 CPU preset back to "veryfast", and if you still have it happen, you may need to use a little bit of downscale.

And THIS log is after disabling the last two performance options under the advanced tab of My Computer Properties... and enabling quick sync, and making the scene buffer time to 0 (Forces it to 60 as a minimum:

http://pastebin.com/KpbSZGYE << Most Stable so far with the highest quality.

No dropped, late frames one duplicate. Below is the dropped frames version after setting the framerate to 60:

These two are after setting to veryfast again.

Those log files are for encodes less than a couple minutes or even just a few seconds long. In other words, they're statistically insignificant. It would be a mistake to draw any conclusions from them. Do it again while displaying the most complex scenes your game has to offer, and let it run that way for at least five minutes.

That said, I remembered something from another discussion, and you might want to try setting your bitrate lower. viewtopic.php?f=18&t=6757&p=56914&hilit=quicksync+bitrate#p56914 .

I misread your first log, you had switched back to veryfast later, I didn't notice that. Seems you have the problem solved, because you just switched it to QSV.
