Problem using two external 2 numbers of web camera.

I am using windows 11, I have connected two web camera in obs studio and one integrated camera is already there. Total 3 camera. When I use external one camera obs studio works fine but when I connect external second camera the previous two camera stop working. I am not able to solve the problem. Is there any settings to solve this problem?

I had a similar experience using 2 external USB cams ( Identical cheap Chinese cams that both show up with the same nameand the integrated webcam on windows 10 I tried all sorts of things and so far have got a partial solution. On win 10, I connect the cams and check that they are working using the camera app. ( does win 11 have this?). I then found the 2 external cams in device manager and copied the driver key of the first in the list then using the key to search I found it in the registry and changed the 'Friendly Name from USB CAM to USB CAM Number 1. Returning to dev manager I did the same for the other one calling it USB CAM Number 2. Close dev manager and the registry and restart the computer. In OBS open camera properties and I set the resolution and frame rate to the quoted specs for the camera (1080p and 30fps) for both cameras . I have created 3 scenes using one of the cameras as the only source in that scene calling them left and right for the two external cams and face for the integrated webcam. I am able to use all cameras with a couple of minor problems still to sort out. Occasionally one of the external cams will freeze and I have to deactivate and activate it to get it working again (all cams are set to deactivate when not showing) The other problem is that while I can change scenes between the webcam and either of the external cameras or either of the external cameras and the webcam I cannot change from either of the external cameras to the other external camera.
I hope this may be of some help
P.S. I have now added an old Logitech c270 also in it's own scene and can change from the 2 external cameras to the Logitech but when I change from that to the external cams I get a black screen until I deactivate and reactivate that camera.

  1. Hello

I had the same issues until last week when I decided to use nested scenes in EVERY SINGLE case !
This help me a lot and I was surprised because other minor issues I had vanished ...

So I hope this will help you :

  1. create a scene with ONLY ONE camera and name it like " CAMERA 01 DEFAULT " ... don't add any filter !
Don't add any kind of OTHER sources .. never ! You won't need that

  2. For this first scene, setup the source properties as DEFAULT
    Important
: check the box " DESACTIVATE IF NOT USED "
(If you'll need other properties [ like another resolution ] then create another scene with the camera source but different properties)

  3. repeat this process for each camera source you'll need

  4. Now , In order to use filters / properties you need for recordings and streams :

Create another scene with a nested scene inside : CAMERA ONE DEFAULT
Add any kind of filter you need now
  5. Bonus : my advice in order to get complete freedom in your transitions, filters, creativity etc ... :
use the same process each time you need more filter
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Off course this will take more time, there is a learning curve and method ... but it's worthy
I hope the benefits will be same as mine : it changed my workflow !

You will also notice that other side problems will desapear like magic ... please let me know

In short : the more independent and nested scenes you have, the more freedom you get
