I got the stream working but i can't send a link to my friends because i don't understand how to do this (red text) http://i.minus.com/iP3UvumWcR9l7.png

I mean i know how to edit the ip address from that file but not how to setup DNS for virtualbox.

Edit: I got the stream working going to update newbie friendly guide for the likes of me once i get all configured properly.

I am working on an update to this so that way you can access the nginx.conf file from a windows share. I know that vm is a tad dated now as it is two years old. I will post it when I am finished.

Are you updating the Ubuntu or Debian one? If Debian, are you going to re-do everything on Debian 8 (Jessie)?

I did the ubuntu one, I just realized it doesn't have the swf player in it though. I don't see the crime in doing both being they kind of the same. The only thing is it's on nginx 1.7.5 once I get that further updated I will reupload it again.

Now that I have VirtualBox working on my newer computer setup, I will somewhat soon recreate the image with Debian 8 (Jessie). I don't expect it to change the instructions that Yorubannin is working on.

To be honest i am not very tech savvy and have always barely got myself through this kind of stuff and mostly with the help of others. There might be some unnecessary things in the guide and it never had detailed twitch help because it can be done easily without virtualbox. guide.txt below.

Can this be used as stated below?

For example. With OBS i contact to a local running media server. This media server gets my OBS feed, and pushes it to/or doing itself to an local running web server. This stream can be embeded into any website you want.

I am tired of searching for good streaming sites which dont ask hundres of dollars each month to pay for their stream(ustream and livestream), or are only gaming related, or are not add-free, or cant stream 720p/1080p restrictless, or are bandwith restricted.

If it would be possible to push my OBS feed to some server running here at my home, and then to some http localhost web server, which i can embedd into my wordpress site, which i host sowhere else.

This embedding stream, is important and not password protected. Everyone could access it.

When i read this topic, it looks like something which i want, but its password protected stream, and it dont let you embedd the stream into a wordpress site, so anyone can access it from the internet?

Man, what do i miss Justin.tv. There always commercial sites, which ruining other sites (twitch shut down justin.tv).

So if anyone got a homebrew solution let me know!!

The answer is yes, however I'm not sure you need OBS as part of your solution. Are you going to broadcast screen captures or just media files that are on your hard drive? If the latter, you don't need OBS.

I also suggest using a different VM from page three. I made it and follow this thread. The network card is set to bridged mode like you want. The stream is not password protected by default.

I am going to broadcast events on my website though OBS. Therefore the stream needs to be embedded into an Wordpress site.

Yesterday i used the image with the Debian server which Yuru made a guide for it. The only problem is. When i used that index.html into my wordpress stream page, wordpress doesnt recognize the stream. It sees the title, but the stream doesnt show up (think because of the javascript). When i use JW_Player plugin for Wordpress, you need to make a free account at JW Player, which have restrictions (25GB bandwith a months, etc) which i dont really want. At the free account you connect your feed to JW Player through an API.

My stream works with the JW Player plugin, but i dont want to depend on JW Players their restrictions. It would be nice if i could use the index.html somehow into my wordpress stream page(cant embed javascript in a iframe).

How can JW Player in index.html be used with interference of a Free JW Player account which i had to make it work?

And the 2nd problem is that i am already an webserver (usenet indexer) on my public ip. So i cant add another. So when i want to stream, i have to change the portforwardings to the Debian server instead of my usenet indexer. Not really a problem, but then, it would be nice when the debian server is down, to get an offline image at the stream.

Example of wordpress page

Both using iframes. Would be nice if i just could copy/past the code from index.html into the wp page. But that seems not working.

A friend of mine that made a page with multiple streams on it used this:

HTML:
    jwplayer("Element").setup({
     file: "rtmp://DOMAINNAME.COM/stream/flv:encoded.flv",
    image: "http://DOMAINNAME.COM/stream/images/thumb.jpg",
    width:"100%",
    height: "90%",
    stretching: "exact",
    primary: "flash",
    autostart: "false"

    });
Oh, and you only need to forward port 1935.

Putting that code straight into wordpress page like in the screenshots, doesnt work. It just shows the code on the page, not the player :D

Its so hard to embedd javascript stuff into wordpress pages :(

So close!

I can only get it working with the JW Player Plugin(2nd example of my wordpress page), which need api access through JW Players website :S
