Was this feature removed for studio or am I missing something?

I like to test my encoding/streaming settings without actually streaming to my channel.
 
The feature has not yet been added to OBS Studio. It is planned, eventually. For now, you'll either have to do test recordings, stream to a test channel, or stream to your regular channel with a "test" label in your title.
 
Was this feature added yet and does it function exactly the same? I don't want to install Studio again just to check and I couldn't find notes that mention adding a preview feature or how it works.

Not having the simple preview was the reason I went back to Classic after trying OBS Studio months ago since I don't need any of the other bells and whistles and that preview feature is essential for me as well.
 
Nevermind, I installed it to save time and saw I can preview just fine but upgrading didn't resolve my issue and there's way more going on than I need for local recording, so I'll stick with classic. Thanks!
 
To clarify, you can preview what would be output to your stream or recording by checking the preview (visible in the main application window by default) at any time. You can also use Audio Monitoring (added in OBS Studio 18.0.0) to hear the audio as it would be output to your stream or recording. Twitch and YouTube both have features where you can test streams (for Twitch, use their bandwidth test feature; for YouTube, Stream now can be set to private to test, or you can use live events with the Live Control Room, which is pretty cool - more info here).

Currently, there is just not a built-in method in OBS Studio to simulate your outgoing stream bandwidth/health without using one of the test methods I mentioned above, which is what I think @Frost_Bytes was looking for. The ability to simulate stream bandwidth/health isn't really relevant for local recording, so the available preview features should work for what you need. Please note that OBS Classic is completely unsupported at this time, so if you have any issues with it at all, you aren't likely to receive support on these forums or in the support chat.

May I ask, what exactly was your issue that OBS Studio did not resolve?
 
I'm disappointed to see that the new OBS Studio does not support Preview Stream functionality. I don't want to muck around "in production" either with streams nor with recordings (then having to delete a bunch of incorrect files) to see if the setup is working or not.

I have installed OBS Classic for now.
 
Classic is not only unsupported but so ludicrously out of date at this point that I don't know what benefit you gain from doing so.

Use of the NDI plugin along with the NDI monitor application, or streaming to a local NGINX-RTMP server provides the same (if not better) functionality without losing all the other updates made to studio made in the past five years.
