Question / Help Preview stream button unavailable

Hello!

I am new to streaming and slightly new to OBS. Watching someone elses stream, I noticed they could preview their own stream on OBS without the delay. I wish to do this also, so I can see the follower alert and read the followers name on stream as a thank you. However, the button "Preview Stream" is greyed out :S Can someone tell me why that is?

Also, is there any other option to show the follower alert in-game? I use dual monitor set-up so previewing the stream would be fine as well.

"Preview Stream" is used to see what your stream will look like before going live. That button is probably already grayed out because you are currently streaming/recording already. The "preview" is just the OBS preview window that shows what you are streaming, or what you're about to stream.

Preview is only disabled if you're recording or streaming, in which case the preview display is always showing anyway.

I see, it does work when I'm not live. Thanks! Is there any other way to view my stream without the delay, so I can read the followers name?

When you're streaming, the preview should still be visible. Just look at the OBS window.
