Question / Help Preview/Program not working correctly

New to OBS, so maybe I am not able to find the setting. I have the preview and the program window open in multiview. I can see the preview window and the program window at the top with the scenes below that. The problem is that the only way to get the scenes into the final program is to click on the scene. There is no way to get the scenes into preview before going live to program. That is, when I click on the scene (in the lower half of the multiview screen) it goes directly to the preview and to the program. There is a green outline around the chosen scene, but there is no red outline.

The multiview window exists to do exactly what you did: get an overview with preview of every scene and to immediately switch to one of it with one mouse click. That's all. You don't use the multiview to edit and prepare scenes, you only use it to switch to them. The multiview is primarily for people who have a bunch of different sources with different life video to help choosing to which to switch next. It's like the monitor screen with all available cameras in a life production studio, where the director chooses to which to switch in a life broadcast.

Use the main OBS window to edit scenes and arrange sources. And try Studio Mode (the button above the Settings button). Perhaps that is the feature you are searching. It enables you to switch to a scene but let you edit the scene before you put it life.
