Preview is lagging but game isn't

OBS has been working perfectly fine until today. The games I play run perfectly but the preview on OBS looses some frames and makes it look choppy. I don't even need to start recording or streaming for the frames to drop, it just happens automatically, but it appears choppy in the recordings and streams as well. Again, the games I play don't lag at all, so it's just a problem with OBS. I looked at my stats and it says I'm missing frames due to rendering lag, but I've looked at other threads here about that and none of the ones instructions I tried to follow worked. nvm just fixed it myself :) turns out I just had too many game captures since I didn't know I could quickly change the game a capture is recording
