Specs:
OS: Windows 10 Pro x64 ALL latest updates
CPU: Intel Core i7 6700k Tried at stock & Overclocked (no difference)
Ram: 16GB DDR 4 3200
Motherboard: Asus Z170 Pro
Graphics Card: Nvidia GT730 Tried at stock & Overclocked (no difference)
Capture Card: El Gato HD60 Pro (internal) Some Sources where I get lag the El Gato cap card is not even involved
OBS Versions used: Obs Studio 18.0.1 ftl-9 AND non obs ftl. They both behave the same
I have 2 separate PC's 1 for gaming and one dedicated for Encoding. I feel this Streaming PC is overkill. Strangely enough the reason I'm posting this thread is because I've had a problem follow me around for some time and after tons of testing I can't see to find the root cause. I wanted to get some help from some knowledgable people and possible OBS Devs.
On all sources my fps fluctuates. I can disable some stuff (especially things with Chroma Key) and get some fps back. Thing is I feel that my fps in OBS should not be fluctuating. I don't feel that anything I'm doing is too strenuous.
Here's the behavior that bothers me. If I change sources the fps will go from 60 to as low as 36 fps. It seems to always bounce around. Some scenes have sources that are more demanding than others. Being that nothing is going on other than OBS running on this pc with perhaps a few browser windows I'm not sure why I'm experiencing degrading performance like this. I've tried overclocking my videocard and cpu but that didn't help or hurt performance. I've disabled almost anything with Chroma Key and that seems to help fps performance. But why am I experiencing this?
Please let me know of any log files I can provide that will help and I'll be more than happy to provide them.
I've tried so much more but to keep this OP short and readable I'll share relevant info later on via reply. I also don't want to limit your ideas by stating what I've tried as I'm willing to try things again. Help will be greatly appreciated.
Kind Regards,
L.E.
