Question / Help Possible to run and record with OBS studio from a Ramdisk? (128 GB)

I know this is overkill but I'm thinking of getting 128 GB of DDR4 (2.400GHz) ram. Why would you ask?
I want to make a ramdisk. I would allocate around 16 GB for regular use (OS +...), around 10 GB for a few small servers and 102 GB for OBS (I don't know how much space OBS studio takes on my system, it wont show it for some odd reason), so I would be left with around 100 GB for recording gameplay.

I will use this kind of method: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=svrpFWMkmd0

His clip was 1:33 long and about 241MB, so I should be fine with 100 GB, if not, I will still have a seperate drive(s) to drop the recordings to and clear up my ramdisk again.

So would it be possible to do this? Also for clarification, the OS will not be on the ramdisk but SSD. Garry's mod and minecraft will probably be on the ramdisk along with 2-4 small servers (1 at a time). OBS ofcourse, to eliminate write speed bottlenecks. So is it possible to run a 8 man MC/GMOD server, record (1080p60FPS), and play the game (1080p) at the same time from a ramdisk without any problems, since the read and writespeeds would be very high?

In case you're wondering, the other parts are also overkill (kinda)

Any help would be very appreciated :D

Aside from being totally pointless I don't see why it wouldn't work. What gives you the impression that you have some sort of write speed bottleneck? Even a terrible hard drive can keep up with writing OBS output unless you're using Studio and the lossless recording preset, in which case you'd need a lot more space. None of this makes any sense.

The guy in the vid said that you'd need a fast HDD, a friend of mine told me the same thing. I think that I thought this because at first I wanted to do lossless indeed with a HDD. I realise that I posted this wrong, it is supposed to be in the OBS Studio section, not lossless but really good quality. I think that I'll go with 64GB, even though that's also overkill.

Thanks for your input :)

What vid?

Lossless recording needs about 50-55mbyte/sec sustained write speed.
Indistinguishable recording needs about 7mbyte/sec sustained.

I don't know what that guy was telling you, but you have no need for ramdisk or ssd as your recording target.
