So about a month and a half ago, I was about to stream with OBS, but when I loaded up Minecraft it went from 1000+ FPS to 30 FPS. Ever since I haven't been able to figure out this problem. I have been looking all over the forums, but nobody has helped anyone with this issue. For example, the following posts:

https://obsproject.com/forum/threads/frame-rate-drop-when-obs-open.77245/

https://obsproject.com/forum/threads/minecraft-slows-down.77383/

The thing is when I load up Minecraft it lags, but Overwatch on max settings is just fine with a smooth 100+ FPS

Specs
Intel i7-7700 CPU @ 3.60Ghz, ~3.6GHz
NVIDIA Geforce GTX 1060 3GB

I will follow-up on this post soon with a log file.
Thank you so much for your help, I really need it.

Game DVR is Windows' own recording utility, if you don't use it turn it off in Windows Settings. It is taxing resources by running in the background automatically when it detects you playing a game.
04:12:54.951: Game DVR: On

The below colour format is not available by NVENC encoder, h264 encoders only use NV12 colour format, x264 encoders can use others.
04:12:55.558: format: RGBA
04:12:55.558: GPU conversion not available for format: 6

The below capture methods in the scene 'Recording' are conflicting, you should use Game Capture as it is the most efficient method to grab frames for recording/streaming.
04:12:56.676: - source: 'Window Capture' (window_capture)
04:12:56.676: - source: 'Game Capture 2' (game_capture)
04:12:56.676: - source: 'Display Capture' (monitor_capture)

Lastly:
Your bitrate is really low for 1080p60fps, try 6k (For Twitch) or 8-9k (For YouTube)
For recording only, use CQ rate control method, try for 15-23 (Lower number is higher quality)
You should use High profile for recording, main for streaming (Compatibility for low spec viewers to help with buffering issues, such as mobile device users)
You should use High Performance mode, try High Quality mode if you don't have any rendering lag, as stated in your logfile by the line below:
Output 'simple_file_output': Number of lagged frames due to rendering lag/stalls:

Can you do another recording test and upload the associated logfile for that recording please, we'll go from there.

- Also for streaming, you should take a look at my post in the previous thread as it should help you:

Limit your ingame FPS, so you don't choke CPU/GPU.
Don't use Monitor Capture+Game Capture+Window Capture at the same time.
Turn Off Windows Game DVR and make sure Nvidia Shadowplay (share feature in Geforce Experience) is off.

btw: 1080p60fps will look horrible when you move around in the game, unless you use ~10.000kbit/s bitrate.

You are not alone. I was streaming perfectly fine, having OBS open while not even broadcasting was perfectly fine YESTERDAY the ram usage when NOT BROADCASTING was only around 600 mb. Then all of a sudden, despite having Windows Updates service completely disabled, a Windows Update forced its way onto my computer and all of a sudden OBS running while not even broadcasting decided to look like this:
upload_2018-2-18_6-35-9.png

Now keep in mind I didn't touch anything. I have read both this and HAZMAT's thread and nothing anyone stated has helped. Everything is disabled from GeForce streaming to the Windows DVR thing. This is weird. I'm going to update my graphics driver right now and then reinstall OBS completely and see what happens.

After multiple restarts, I noticed SOMETIMES OBS is running at only 900 MB usage! And then next reboot its back at nearly 4k all over again. I am now without a choice and will attempt a full reinstallation of OBS.

It's completely random whether it decides to look like this:
upload_2018-2-19_7-13-4.png

or randomly after multiple times restarting the pc or the program ifI'm lucky enough it might look ideal like this:
unknown.png

notice how it's running better while broadcasting a game than it does not even live or with anything else running? completely random I can't figure this crap out. OBS is all of a sudden fucked out of nowhere.... It was fine for YEARS

I'm having this same type of issue. When I'm not even live my OBS and csgo take up a huge amount of my CPU and GPU usage. The other day it used a lot of memory to. This all happened out of no where as well. I don't know if it's an update or what's happening but I am unable to stream currently because of this issue.

how? where are the log files located? incredibly helpful of you to point out the obvious without any actual attempts of guidance. can we get a better moderator in here?
hold on. what log files? all of them? when OBS was working perfectly yesterday and the ones from today which i haven't even been able to broadcast yet?
