Question / Help Please help, Streaming using a Cam.

I'm currently building my PC for streaming and recording for League of Legends / other PC games on twitch.

I will not be using a webcam, well I'd rather not use one if possible.

That being said I'd like to use my Sony HDR-CX220/L High Definition Handycam Camcorder if possible

From what I can tell this video camera does not have live-view, so I believe I will need a capture card. I'm not able to find a way to capture from the Camcorder.

I will be streaming and recording in high quality if possible, I know that Markiplier, Pewdiepie, and Jacksepticeye all record on camcorders now and the quality and reliability difference is noticeable from their comments about it all.

What would be the best capture method to use as to not take any significant hits on performance? My cam has an internal mic, will that pick up my talking?

How might I best go about getting this done properly, I'd appreciate any tips and advice. Thank you. (Yes I will be using OBS) Granted if none of this is possible with my hardware, what webcam would you recommend for what I'm trying to do that wont cost an arm and a leg?

PS: try to dumb down a bit the tech speak, I can put a computer together and upgrade it... but past that I use youtube to walk me through processes. I am on a budget so I cant get crazy on the hardware.

Short version, you use a camcorder with an HDMI out, and run that to a dedicated capture card, just like if you were going to be streaming gameplay from a console.

Really though, this is VERY expensive to do and there isn't much point in doing it, unless you need to exceed 1080p@30 on the webcam. A Logitech c920 is much more economical and will deliver perfectly good quality up to that point, even if a camcorder will work better.

This is not something you do if you're on a budget. A camcorder of this capability alone (1080p@60+) generally will run around four-figures, which is one reason a lot of people will go to a DSLR instead... which can dramatically shorten the lifespan (by damaging the sensor, depending on who you ask) as those generally aren't designed for extended use for shooting video. Oh, and most of the cheap ones top out at 1080@30 for live video, though the larger glass will admittedly produce a better-quality picture.

So. $50-70 for a Logi c920, or $400-600 for a cheap DSLR plus another $150-200 for a capture card to support it, for a facecam quality increase so low that most people will not notice it.
