Question / Help Please help me pick a webcam for greenscreen streaming c920/c930e

Hi there!

I would like to know your opinion about what you think is better for streaming on twitch and doing greenscreen.

I seen many streamers are using the c920, but is it worth to get the c930e?

I know the rough specifications of both webcams but i haven't found too much information about the c930e since it's firmware update was released.
Most reviews were posted before the firmware update.

Does anyone using the c930e for streaming+greenscreen?

I know that the c930e have a wider view range 90 degree and it can do that uvc encoding or something.

Please share your opinion about which webcam is worth getting for streaming i'd be happy to hear your thoughts.

Thanks in advance.

The c920 is the gold standard for livestreaming webcams. It delivers an awesome level of quality.
From what I found while researching my own purchase, the c930e is just a 920 with a modified firmware certified for corporate use, including some extra licensing stuff that you don't need outside of a corp environment, a slightly different lens, and that's about it.

The narrower field of view is going to be a good thing for livestreaming, especially if you use a greenscreen. Even with the c920, a screen generally needs to be pretty big to cover its field of vision. The 930 might find use in some larger-venue applications, like tournament casting for a crowd-cam. Beyond that though, the 920 is significantly cheaper and a better fit for standard livestreaming all around.

I agree mostly with FerretBomb but like to add that the green screen's required size, depends on the aspect ratio/resolution/zoomlevel of the webcam. If you are limited on space, you can still use it.

I own a c920 myself and I don't believe quality could be any better than that. The quality is top-notch(but be sure to provide good overall lighting..specially when chromakeying. I guarantee the c920 will do the job just fine and you can use the remaining money for other stuff(for instance a mic condensator or something).. :)

Hi everyone!

i'm sorry for bumping this tread but i'd like to ask a couple more tech related questions about the c920 and the c930e because i'd like to order the webcam within a few days.

Thanks again for the help both of you FerretBomb and Blauwhelmpje.

You guys recommended to go for the c920 but since i don't have enough money to get a good mic and the webcam together, i can afford any of the webcams
and i'll get a blueyeti or an at2020 in a few months (or any other mic that you guys recommend ;-D ).

My comp specs are:
i5 2500
16 gb ram
gtx 660 ti 3gb gddr5

I usually don't stream any cpu killer game, i more like to broadcast indi games and because of my mediocre setup (especially the cpu) I'd like to know if i'd be able to use the

"H.264 with Scalable Video Coding and UVC 1.5 encoding technology" in c930e
resource: http://www.logitech.com/en-us/product/webcam-c930e-business

or the

"H.264 AVC compression" with OBS so it may use very low cpu resources while streaming?
resource: http://www.logitech.com/en-us/product/hd-pro-webcam-c920

Is it true that the c930e use variable framerate and the c920 use constant framerate and the c930e requires more cpu resources than the c920 to do the "same" job ?

I also know that the c930e don't have the logitech webcam software so i got another question about this since at this moment i only have a win 7 64 bit os... (but i can buy a win 8.1 if it's necessary).

Is it true that the c930e requres windows 8.1 or something to work properly,
and for 1080p / 30 fps recording
(do i need to set the webcam to 1080p/30fps for clear image on stream or 720p/30fps setting is good enough for the webcam)?

Thanks in advance!
