Hey there.

I'm trying to use OBS for Chaturbate and my stream is bad. My frame rate quickly and drastically changes and I get the 'encoder may be overworked' error.

OBS settings:
Resolution: 640x480;
Encoder: QSV (I found that it hardly makes a difference from x264) with the 'balanced' preset;
Video bitrate: 800;
FPS: 30;
Downscale filter: Bilinear.

Computer specs:
Windows 10;
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6500U CPU @ 2.50GHz 2.60 GHz;
RAM 8.00GB.

Upload speed: 0.86mbps
Download speed: 15.49 mbps

Log file: https://obsproject.com/logs/Ov1nWfBmb18NMKr-

Can someone please identify what the issue is and what I can do to get a consistent frame rate.

Thank you very much!

Everytime your log say "Number of dropped frames due to insufficient bandwidth/connection stalls: xxxx".
This means that your either your connection to your router is bad, or your upload is set too high.
As you are using Wi-Fi I would first recommend trying a cabled connection.

What upload do you have with your internet provider? You can test your up- and download on speedof.me.

Thanks for the reply.

I am using Wi-Fi, although I did try a cabled connection just before and the results were pretty much the same.

What do you mean 'upload is set too high' -- is there a way I can change this?

This is the result of my run on speedof.me:

Thanks again.

By "upload is set too high" they mean that you've told OBS to upload at a rate of 3000kbps, but this is higher than your internet connection, which in the above result is only about half that speed. According to the above test, if you set your rate to 1500 you'd be using up all your available upstream bandwidth for streaming.

The reason why you don't see an improvement switching from wireless is that your connection itself is apparently extremely slow.
