Hi, i recently got a new pc & went to connect my monitor to the tower via HDMI splitter, & it won't record, I just get a black screen. Can someone please help me?
It worked perfectly fine on my old pc, but with this new one, it just doesn't seem to work.
I have it setup as:
tower to splitter to monitor , using HDMI cables. Any help?

- I don't connect any other consoles, just Pc gaming

HDMI has different versions so first of all you should check the HDMI versions of your gear.

Checklist:
  1. Splitter HDMI version
  2. All of your cables HDMI version
Old cables have different tiers, as well as your HDMI splitter supports only upto certaint version splitting the signal.

For reference:

New graphics cards may use HDCP (content protector) and most splitters allows only non-protected signals to be split.
Make sure you check your PC graphics control panel, that HDCP is disabled.

Then check your HDMI version resolution and refreshrates support using the reference above.
Usually splitters supports only 1920x1080 with max 60hz, the cheaper splitter the less support for different resolutions.
Check your splitter manual to see what resolutions and refresh rates are supported.
