So, I’m new to streaming.... I run a 4K monitor and I stream in 1080p, do recordings for YouTube that come thru in 720p. When I play little indie games I don’t seem to have this problem, but when I play graphically straining games, I’ll check OBS and find that resolution for my game has been blown WAY out of proportion for the viewer. For instance today I recorded the whole resident evil 3 demo and finished it and worked on a thumbnail and then went to edit the video and everything was whacked out and blown up so that the viewer could only see the top left of the screen. I hope you under stand what I mean. I had this problem when I tried to record some footage of The division 2 too. But dont have this problem when I play Sea Salt, or Ori and the will of the wisps. Less graphically demanding games. I do not understand what’s happening. Both the output for the base and canvas resolution is 1080p..... in game I switched the resolution to 4K. 3440x2160 or whatever it is. I have a monitor that’s capable of that resolution as i play games on it with the resolution set to that all the time. Am I just unable to play games that I’m streaming and recording footage for in 4K while they are shown to the masses In A lower resolution. Do I simply not get to enjoy the wonders of 4K gaming whilst trying to make content? If that’s so why does this issue not happen In little indie games. There’s a photo of what I’m talking about for reference

It sounds like you just need to resize your capture source to your canvas size. Right-click, transform, fit to screen.

If that keeps changing on you depending on the game, you can add a filter to force the image size to a specific resolution.
