Gaming PC's HDMI out goes to the elgato's HDMI in.
Game audio should be going through the HDMI connection on your 970
There is no reason to install the elgato software on the gaming system, and it is actually likely to install components that cause problems, so it is recommended to uninstall it.
Provide the obs log from the laptop.

Hey Harold, thanks for the quick reply!
Ok maybe I typed wrong the OP, I have the hardware setup as you mentioned. And no, I really didn't know about the Elgato problem with having it installed on gaming PC, I thought it was mandatory :) Btw D/L speed ~9mbs, U/L speed ~5mbs, yeah its crappy but I'm getting a 30/30 soon.
