Hey there peoples,

I'm trying to get the right settings for making OBS recordings.
These are my specs:
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700K CPU @ 4.00GHz
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080
G.Skill 16 GB DDR4-2400 Kit RAM
SAMSUNG 950 EVO SSD
SAMSUNG 850 EVO SSD
ASUS MAXIMUS VIII HERO, socket 1151 MOTHERBOARD

I also use a asus 2560x1440 144hz screen.

Whenever i try these settings: https://obsproject.com/forum/resour...lity-recording-and-multiple-audio-tracks.221/

I get stutterings which dissapear when I change the in-game fps from 150 too 60. I tested this on Rocket League.

Isn't it possible to play with both 144fps and record on 60fps?

Hopefully anyone can help me!

Code:
22:23:07.289: [x264 encoder: 'recording_h264'] preset: veryslow

Very very unlikely that your CPU will be able to encoder 1440p 60fps at veryslow. You should really just use Simple output mode and the recording presets if you don't know what you're doing in advanced.

I wasn't using the x264 encoder, i was using the nvenc encoder. The line you quoted is an old setting which I was messing around with.

These were the settings I used:

22:26:21.654: [NVENC encoder: 'recording_h264'] settings:
22:26:21.654: rate_control: CQP
22:26:21.654: bitrate: 0
22:26:21.654: cqp: 25
22:26:21.654: keyint: 250
22:26:21.654: preset: default
22:26:21.654: profile: high
22:26:21.654: level: auto
22:26:21.654: width: 2560
22:26:21.654: height: 1440
22:26:21.654: 2-pass: true
22:26:21.654: b-frames: 2
22:26:21.654: GPU: 0
22:26:21.654:
22:26:21.904: ---------------------------------
22:26:21.904: [FFmpeg aac encoder: 'Track1'] bitrate: 320, channels: 2
22:26:21.905: ---------------------------------
22:26:21.905: [FFmpeg aac encoder: 'Track2'] bitrate: 320, channels: 2
22:26:21.906: ---------------------------------
22:26:21.906: [FFmpeg aac encoder: 'Track3'] bitrate: 320, channels: 2
22:26:21.906: ---------------------------------
22:26:21.907: [FFmpeg aac encoder: 'Track4'] bitrate: 320, channels: 2

Code:
22:23:07.289: [x264 encoder: 'recording_h264'] preset: veryslow

Very very unlikely that your CPU will be able to encoder 1440p 60fps at veryslow. You should really just use Simple output mode and the recording presets if you don't know what you're doing in advanced.

So i tried simple output, this actually makes the stuttering worse.

Can you post a clean log with the current settings you're having issues with?

To make a clean log file, first restart OBS, then start your stream/recording for ~30 seconds and stop it again. When you're done select Help > Log Files > Upload Current Log File. Copy the URL and paste it here.

I already found the problem. it has to to with ''capture specific window'' within game capture (sources). When I use that i have small stutterings. When i use display capture it's gone

That actually makes little to no sense. Game Capture is by FAR more efficient than Display Capture. However, if it's working for you, great!
