Question / Help Ping Spikes In-Game, slight dropped frames.

Hi there, recently I've been having trouble with ping spikes in League of Legends while streaming. Sometimes my ping will skyrocket to 300-500 in-game for a brief period of time then go back down. Also, sometimes it'll just straight up disconnect me from the game for a few seconds and then snap back in after it's done lagging. Generally I only drop frames when it completely dc's me.

My bitrate/buffer is set to 4000 kb/s but I have 40 mb/s down and 35 mb/s up most of the time on my Wireless N network.

It also generally tends to happen as the stream has been on at least a few hours.

It's extremely frustrating, and I can't figure out why it's doing this. Is there an option to help me with this? Am I doing something wrong?

That bit rate is on the high side, and streaming/playing over Wireless isn't the best way to ensure consistent network connectivity.

Have you tried enabling the "minimize network impact" setting?

Do you think you could post your log? viewtopic.php?f=5&t=97

My friend who's experienced with streaming said that 4k was about perfect for 720p, and I have a ton of upload speed to spare. As for wireless, I've been thinking this too, but the connection seems pretty stable and I've had no problems streaming for 6-8 hours in the past, this is a more recent development of the last couple of months. Nevermind I don't get why the first few hours of my stream seem lag free and it only starts afterwards.

I haven't tried the Minimize Network Impact option because my searching for what it does yielded little to no results. Would that help? I'll give it a shot.

Here's my log for a stream I did this weekend. Was about 6-7 hours long I think, and had a number of freezes in League once I got past a few hours.

Your computer is really choking on 60 fps, lagging a lot of frames, and having too slow of a per-frame render time. What happens if you drop to 30fps and 3000 bit rate?

Hm, I thought putting it at 60 would be fine because it would just automatically lower it when necessary. Also, what's the correlation to ping spikes? Is this somehow affecting my ping in-game or causing the dc's? I'm not having any frame issues in-game.

As for the bitrate, again, would this really have a correlation to my in-game ping when I have 30 upload speed to spare at all times?

I'm willing to try at least a day or two with these settings to see their impact, but I'd like to understand the explanation behind them if you could.

Oh, last thing, this seems to happen way more often in LoL than any other game. I used to be heavy into streaming WarZ and never had a lag issue in that game ever on these exact settings.

Thank you, I appreciate the help.

Mmk, quick update, I've tried a medium between my settings and your suggested with about the same results. 45 fps and 3500 bitrate with minimize network impact ticked.

I'm going to be trying your suggested settings soon to see if it makes any difference.

I'd still like to know if my pc choking on the frames would cause ping issues, though. Also, I'm going to try a full day of streaming another game and see if I drop any frames. For some reason these lag issues have been exclusive to League.
