Hi all please take pitty on me and tell me how to fix this issue.
I'm a total novice on anything to do with OBS. I heard about it through a youtube video. I bought a video capture dongle downloaded OBS and followed youtube how to video to install and setup obs so I could watch firestick on my windows laptop. All good as far as the video side of things go. I have picture but no sound. I've done everything that is instructed on all the how to videos on youtube. (all instruct the same procedure) .
i'm a bit confused as in the Advanced Audio Properties my FIRESTICK shows as INACTIVE. I've looked everywhere to try and turn it on to Active like all the other tabs but no joy.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Ok if my memory does not fail me, if an audio device is inactive its volume is muted (or with the fader at minimum). Unchecking the mute should bring up the sound.
In any case, send a screenshot of the obs and its settings so that we can see if there is anything strange.

On the other hand, I have seen in other forums that security systems of the same firestick, and similar devices, give many headaches when connected to video capturers. It doesn't seem to be the case, but it's a possibility.

Hi Jonathan
Thanks for your help, I've managed to get sound by connecting the firestick to a bluetooth speaker. I still don't have any sound throuhgh the laptop speakers. Hope the attached photos are helpful.
Once again many thanks.

It's not the mute or fader that does it. An inactive audio source means that it's in another scene that is not shown at the moment.

Generally, we on these forums don't like to help with capturing devices that primarily or only show commercially copyrighted content. Things like Firesticks, Cable Boxes, etc.

If you happen to get something that works, and you NEVER use it to re-broadcast (streaming, or uploading a recording, or whatever), then good for you. But there are so many ignorant kids that "only want to share their favorite thing to the world" or something like that (which is blatant theft), that we don't like to have that information here on our public forum.
