Permanent Virtual Background for All Cameras

I used an image to create a background for my MacBook Pro camera. Now the image is permanently rendered in all my Scenes. When I click on the Filters, there is none. Nevertheless the virtual background image is always present. There doesn't appear to be a way to remove it / reset it. I've tried uninstalling OBS, deleting the Show Setting Folder, rebooting the MacBook (Apple chip), etc. Any suggestions on how to TOTALLY reset OBS? Note: Non-OBS applications can use the virtual camera without background image with no issue (Webex, Chime, Google Meet, etc.)

OBS 31.0.1
MacBook Pro M3
Sequoia 15.3.1
Logitech Brio

I'm having a similar issue. I cannot get OBS to show a real background. There is a blue background showing in all video feeds...SONY camera as well as my web cam. There are no filters.

While I have not experienced this issue, I wonder if the settings are still saved under the Library/Application Support/obs-studio folders. I just uninstalled OBS and that folder remains.
First, copy ~/Library/Application Support/obs-studio out to another folder, or just rename obs-studio to obs-studio-old.
Second, remove the obs-studio folder.
If no better, then uninstall again and repeat above steps, then do a new install.

I renamed the folder, uninstalled OBS, and reinstalled it. I then deleted the folder (effectively the same as renaming it I guess), uninstalled OBS, and reinstalled it. Blue background still there. I just don't get what can possibly be creating this false background when there are no filters applied. I don't see anyone else having this issue so It must be something unique to my system.

I guess I would then check the settings for the camera? Is there something in Logitech Brio? What happens if you switch to the builtin MacBook FaceTime camera? May also want to check FaceTime settings to make sure it is not setting a background.

I removed the ~/Library/Application Support/obs-studio folder after deleting OBS. There appear to be no artifacts (deleted Show Settings, deleted folder, deleted OBS).

Reinstall OBS and the image is always in the background. It doesn't matter which camera I select (MacBook Pro camera, Brio camera), the background image is always there. I've tried using the virtual green screen effect, but that doesn't help either as I want a LIVE background to show up.

I've just about given up on OBS, because the current background image doesn't reflect the type of environment I want to depict (other participants, whiteboard behind me, etc.).

I even tried renaming the original image used by OBS. Somewhere ... this image is preserved by OBS.

Graphic card drivers? Virtual camera drivers?

Again, if I set other applications to use the MacBook Pro camera or the Brio camera directly as the sources (as opposed to OBS), the virtual background is gone and the live background shows up. It's in OBS somewhere ...

I once again deleted all OBS folders and files. Used App Cleaner and deleted all folders and files it found and also "trashed" ~/Library/Application Support/obs-studio folder. I emptied the Trash restarted my mac, then performed a clean install. Same blue background showing up on webcam and Sony camera. My webcam using FaceTime app shows real background with no issues. My OS is Sequoia 15.3.1. Maybe there is an issue between the OS and OBS?

OK...here's one for you all. I did ANOTHER complete removal and re-install of OBS 31.0.1. I created a scene with my webcam and, one again, it displayed with the blue background. I thought I would connect my SONY camera to see if it still had a blue background. I connected my SONY A1 using an HDMI cable directly to my MacBook pro, turned on the camera, and the camera was not recognized. I chose "OBS Virtual Camera" just for grins and, of course, nothing happened there either...just showed the OBS logo with the slash. BUT, as I was disconnecting my SONY camera I noticed MY WEBCAM WAS SHOWING THE REAL BACKGROUND. Some kind of crossover between the two video capture devices triggered my webcam to show the real background. Maybe this is a bug in OBS maybe it's in my system somewhere, like some sort of conflict between my OS (Sequoia 15.3.1) and OBS 13.0.1.

So it seems that OBS has installed itself as a 'hardware driver' in the Mac OS. I've ripped out sorts of "obs" artifacts from /Library/Application Support and /System and still can't get my static background removed.

I opened up About this Mac -> More Info -> General -> System Report and there it is under Hardware:

OBS Virtual Camera
Model ID: OBS Camera Extension
Unique ID: 7626645E-4425-469E-9D8B-97E0FA59AC75

When OBS is removed, this component persists so Webex, Chime, Zoom, Google Meet always see the 'hardware' present. I've tried removing the unique ID, but it gets restored during reboot.

Somehow, OBS has inserted itself into the hardware of the MacOS. I'm afraid I'll have to reload the entire operating system to get rid of OBS.

Since I can't get rid of the static background, I've abandoned using OBS altogether.

I see what you mean. That is disappointing. My quick search on how to remove hardware is not coming up with much. Sorry to hear. Streamyard next?
