Question / Help Performance Issues / Late Frames

Hello,

I try to stream with OBS, but I can't get it to work properly. First, the software is consuming a lot of resources. Second, while streaming even with low settings inside the game (FFXIV) the result is not great at all. The log analyzer is talking about Late frames (27%). I tried to lower the bitrate, FPS and all other suggestions given here. Nothing seems to work. And if I use Nvidias shadowplay it works like a charm, but I can't configure Keyframes per second to 2. So do you have any suggestion where the problem is?

My System
Windows 10 64
GeForce GTX 960
intel i7 4790K
16 RAM

Is your video card in x16 pci-e mode?

Also, setting a custom buffer size for streaming DOES NOT HELP.

Not sure where to check for the pci-e mode. Just found options in BIOS for x1 and x4. PCI Express x4 Gen2
So I guess my video card is not suited to stream with OBS?

also got rid of custom buffer size which didn't help.

Video card is supporting x16, but is running in x4 somehow.
also checked my mainboard and the video card is placed in a "PCIe 2.0 x16 ( x4-Mode )" Slot.
It also has a "PCIe 3.0 x16", which may be faster but requires the fans of my cooler to be reorganized (blocking the slot).
should I try this?

You're going to need to. Using OBS to capture gaming is basically the only thing I know of that requires video cards to be running in x16 mode. x4 mode does NOT have the bandwidth to keep up.

well just checked what the x4 stands for and you're right. The Video card is in the wrong slot from the very beginning making it not working at full potential.
So I will change the slot tomorrow and see if it makes the difference.

So thank you very much for helping out. I will post if I am done with that. :)
