Question / Help Perfect Settings For Presentations

Hi all, I've been trying to create presentations with various backgrounds but I just can't get the settings to remove a slight lag. The voice records fine but it seems like there is a tiny delay in the video portion.

This guy here, Jerry Banfield, does a great job and I think he uses OBS for his games and presentations with no lag time at all. I've tried the settings I found recommended here but they don't seem to work.

Does anyone know what causes the lag and how to fix it?

The lag is in the video recording portion, not the audio. I use the Logitech c920 and it doesn't have any adjustments. It seems more like the lag is coming from the settings in OBS.

Even before I hit the "record video" button I can see a lag when I wave my hands in front of the camera or speak. It seems like there is a tad bit of slowness to the visual. The audio is perfect though.

When I try to run OBS, I get a pop-up window saying that the program "MSVRCR120.dll" is missing and to reinstall the program. When I click "ok" the program starts fine. I still tried reinstalling OBS 3 times (uninstalling previous versions) but it keeps telling me the same thing. Does anyone know what this is related to?

Lower cam resolution via Resolution/FPS Type: custom; try to set Buffering to disable for face cam. Edit>Advanced Audio Properties>Sync Offset (ms) - audio sync for output, negative values accepted.

Unfortunately I don't seem to have these functions available. When I go to Resolution/FPS Type/Custom, all I get are various sizes the video can be rendered it (1080x720, etc.). There is no choice to "buffer" or disable anything for the c920 face cam.

I also don't seem to have Edit/Advanced Audio Properties/Sync Offset available anywhere. I'm not worried about the audio since I record the audio separately with Audacity and then post-edit the two at the end. What's not working is the lag time of the video.

I think it has something to do with in the area of Output/Recording tab settings and/or the Video tab settings. The help manual is not helpful since it's just a glossary of what all the buttons are but doesn't actually give suggestions of most ideal settings for this type of application.

At least you can find Advanced Audio Properties by this manual ^_^ Main menu Edit>Advanced Audio Properties.

As for buffering - it always at the end of the list of the 'Video Capture Device' source properties, when you scroll it up down.

As for "MSVRCR120.dll" you need to install vc++ dlls: Missing MSVCR120.dll error on Windows 10 (both x86 and x64, also, look for newer libs (2015) for future releases of the Studio, https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2977003)

Is your room properly lighted? Webcams are no magical devices and need to massively increase the exposure time when it's too dark and this can quickly fall below 10-15 fps.
