Question / Help Pandora Question?

Hello, I've set up a stream to showcase some gaming that I'm doing and I'd like to show my Pandora song on screen while I play. I only have one monitor, and I want to show the Pandora section of IE, and I found ways to make it work, but not really how I'd like it to work.
So far, I can make it show a section of my screen, but if I bring up another screen it will show that instead, is there a way I can set it up to only show a section of IE with out moving the source to a second monitor?

In this picture you can see what I mean, if I have IE positioned with my OBS below it, Pandora shows in the display, but in this case, i slid my OBS corner up over the corner of the picture and it shows in the preview. Any ideas, searching pandora on forums yielded no results. The

Hey. I don't believe you can do this from Internet Explorer, as I don't believe you can achieve a "hook" from it like you can in Game Source. For right now, the only way you can do this is the way you're doing it. The other window obstructs the view from pandora because it is not taking a region of Internet Explorer; it is taking a region from your screen. So anything you put in that region will be shown.

Again, the only way to do this is to have a region of your screen that will never be obstructed. The way this is usually done is with a second monitor. So if you wanna shell out the $100 to get a cheap one, that'd be your best bet. Otherwise, free up the real estate on your screen if you can.

Another option is to use Spotify, Winamp, Foobar, etc. to listen to music, and use the third-party text-generating applications as a text source for OBS. There are a few guides on these forums on how to achieve that.

Doing a quick search I found this, which might be a way to show the currently playing song if you don't mind having Pandora open in Chrome: https://github.com/untamed0/Untamed-Now-Playing (this probably won't look as pretty as screen regioning the Pandora player but it will stop this issue.)

Basically it checks the Pandora site and writes the currently playing song to a text file on your computer, you can then have OBS read that file and it will auto update each time a new song starts playing, I currently live in the UK so I can't check this with Pandora but i did a quick test with Last.fm and it wrote to a text file and OBS read that text file just fine, give it a try.

I just found this, but when I place it on screen (Global Source) it does not update the Album art and song name when the song changes, anyone know how to use this successfully?

I couldn't check Pandora but checking "check for changes" on the album artwork worked for that, and the text file automatically updated when the song was changed (sometimes delayed by a few seconds)

^ i Did this with Last.FM since the UK is unable to use Pandora due to region restrictions.

Edit: Also checked with Grooveshark and it updated the song and album artwork automatically when changing songs (sometimes delayed by a few seconds again)

Where are you checking that at? To add them to my OBS I'm simply adding text, and setting the file to the one my music is writing to?

That's correct, OBS automatically checks for changes inside that text file, the checkbox was for the images the plugin saves (album art) you need to tick "check for changes" on the image when adding to OBS for that to check constantly for changes and show album art.

I'm not really sure why the text wouldn't automatically be updating for you.

Maybe try the test build over here: http://obsproject.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=68 It mentions fixing some bugs with text, might help

Ok, I see the problem, the problem is I cant keep the text in front of stuff on screen. on my preview(s) the text is showing, but on my live stream it isnt. http://www.twitch.tv/hypnosivi/b/366274914 good example here, the text should be above my banner, and it is on my preview, but not in this live recording. any ideas how to pull it to the top?

I just looked at the video, at the start (just before the game appeared) the now playing was there, when the game appeared it was hidden, Is the text properly in front of everything else on the sources list? Try moving it to the top by Right clicking the text source and clicking "move to top" It should (i hope) move the text to be on top of anything in that scene

The update fixed it, I was able to move it to the top, thanks man :) on the old version it was "on top"
but did not pull to the top. a few posts up someone linked an update, that did it. :)

First things first, use Google Chrome.

Next, right-click your desktop > screen resolution > press the detect button > click on the 'display not detected' > Multiple Displays > Choose the Top VGA option > Apply. This will add a virtual monitor to your system which you can use on OBS.

Open up OBS, and a monitor capture > choose the additional monitor you added virtually in previous step > now preview your stream and use the monitor capture as a virtual view into that monitor > next add a window capture > select Pandora's website or you can Google search for a Pandora client that you can run on your computer > whichever you choose doesn't matter, just select which parts of the window you'd like to display on your stream etc..

If this all confuses you let me know and I can setup a join.me meeting to show you how to do everything.

Kind Regards,
